School Projects

Predicting Long Term CPAP Usage in the 1st 7 Months (2019)	Using over 52,000 derived descriptives from CPAP usage patterns, predict usage time and usage over 1 year. Compare a Pearson Correlation or ChiSquared Test vs PCA for feature selection. Compare K-means and Gaussian Mixture Clustering vs C4.5 and Random Forest Trees. Results found current standards for prediction to be inadequate.
Galaxy Model (2019)	Code a model of a “galaxy”. Given 3-D positions of 10 billion objects, build a parallel spatial binary tree using C and MPI. Use tree to search for the number and mass of objects given a distance and 3-D target.
EEGLab Modifications for Sleep (2018)	Modify EEGLab algortihms to use alternative Mother Wavelets used in Wavelet Decomposition for sleep EEG analysis.
Qualifying Exam (2017)	“REM Sleep Stage Identification with Wavelet Decomposition and Artificial Neural Network Using a Single Channel”. Classify sleep EEG epochs into REM and NonREM sleep using a single channel EEG (Fpz-Cz). Each epoch was transformed using DB2 mother wavelets. The coefficients from the first transform pass of discrete wavelet decomposition were reduced in dimensionality with the PCA algorithm retaining 75% of variance in the training data. The output of PCA was input to a simple fully connected neural network. The model successfully classified the epochs with 90% accuracy.
Math Modeling for the Erythroproeitin Receptor (2017)	The Monte Carlo Markov Chain method, MCMC Hammer, is used to estimate the value of parameters in mathematical models. The Sobol Method found that the amount of degraded Epo released to extracellular space has the most effect on the EpoR model.
Model Lung (2016)	Create a model of a lung using WebGL. The model visualizes the relative capacities of the human lung as well as the risk associated with diseases that limit those capacities.
QTAIM Wave Function Analysis (2016)	Code a Program in MATLAB that determines atomic charges of atoms in terms of Bader’s Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules. This project required use of Newton-Raphson Method and bisection method to find roots of real-valued functions (imaginary functions converted to real representations), fourth-order Runge-Kutta method to solve systems of ODEs, and numerical quadrature in one, two and three dimensions.
Planetary Motion (2016)	Code a Program in Mathematica and Fortran 90 that uses the positions and velocities of planets collected by NASA 12:00:00.0000 January 1, 2000 to calculate and visualize the positions of the planets for 165 years.
Computational Crystallography (2016)	Code a Program in Mathematica for a molecules crystal structure that uses the eigenvector following method to search for maxima in the electron density distribution constructed via a Fourier synthesis.
Non-Linear Least Squares in Chemical Thermodynamics (2016)	Code a Program in Fortran and Mathematica that fits pressure and volume data for specified gas to a specified Equation of State
Steady State of 2 Dimensional Plate (2015).	Code a program using Fortran that calculated the temperature of a 2 dimensional plate from a starting condition to a Steady State condition.
Gift Exchange Website (2015).	Design and code a small website in PHP using incremental development. The website allowed for sending, requesting, and opening of “gifts” by registered users.
Estimation of Benefits (2014).	Design a RESTful web service using Java that returned JSON or XML. The web service allowed storage, updating, and retrieval of estimation of benefits for medical procedures by registered users.
Climate Modeling with Radiative Forcing (2011)	Using weather data from the past 100 years gathered from around the world, predict the climate for the next 200 years using radiative forcing.
Ostwald Ripening Model (2011)	Predict the evolution of crystalline structures in solution over any specified period of time.

Professional Projects

SPARK Program (2018)	SPARK is an acronym for "Sports, Play, & Active Recreatio for Kids". Assist in some analysis of the "sleep" portion of the SPARK program in TN launched by MTSU.
Founding Sleep Research Consortium (2017)	Assist in the founding of the "Sleep Research Consortium". A volunteer based research group that focuses on sleep and obesity in the United States while primarily in Tennessee.
MTSU Sleep Medicine Research Initiative (2016)	Work with local businesses to prepare colloborative research efforts.
Web-Based Mobile Friendly CRM and Tasking Tool (2015)	Design a web-based mobile friendly client relation and tasking application that includes notifications. Application was written in Perl CGI.
Automation of EHR Reporting (2015)	Design an application that collects, completes analyses, and sends necessary notifications about various information gathered in an EHR. Some version of this applications were customized for 1 time use. This tool was customized for every client.
Advertisement Signup Website (2014)	Design a website for clients to sign up for specialized services. Upon submission of forms, website emailed appropriate parties.
ICD-10 Conversion (2014)	Design a program in C# and Java that presented a list of all ICD-10 codes in their categories based on a list of ICD-9 codes. This project was on-going for over a year with updates for multiple requirements including comparing multiple “crosswalks”, listing LCDs, and listing documentation improvement requirements.
